When you wake up to your porch dusted with snow - you know it's time for Christmas.
Especially because snow is not very popular in the south.
Christmas time is here. I want to go shopping for all kinds of presents, but for who and what do I get? Maybe I'll just browse everywhere because that's fun too.
But honestly - who has time for shopping anytime in the next couple weeks?? Between getting a feast ready for Sunday, having plans Friday and most of Saturday, going out of town most of next week, and then having the next couple weekends planned.... when would I possibly go??
Sheesh....
I've gotta get my Christmas decorations up at some point as well....

5,000 years ago called - They want their TV back....
My TV is old.... VERY old.
In fact - I remember having it when I was just a kid in Pennsylvania... WOW!
But as long as it works - which it does and it's not a bad picture - then why should I get rid of it. I mean, it was free for me and it serves it's purpose. I realize that it's HUGE - weighs probably about 125 lbs - but how often does one move it? Hopefully not again until late July of next year.
Just about every person that comes over has made some sort of comment.
"What's that dinosaur over there in the corner?"
"Man - that thing is HUGE!"
"You could sell that to an antique store for lots of money."
And some other very random, but entertaining things...
My favorite so far is when a new friend said,
"Hey. 5,000 years ago called and they want their TV back."
My room-mate has a nice - small, but nice - plasma TV. My boyfriend has a big, flat screen TV as do a few of my friends.
So here's the question - do I secretly get a new TV, put it in and see what the first comments are about it's existence?
I wouldn't mind a new TV, but why bother when I have one that works??
And it's apparently a great topic of conversation as well....

It's the Holiday Season (the holiday season) . . .
I love Christmas songs.
I just plain love Christmas time.
I've decided that I'm officially ready for it. I want to go Christmas shopping, decorating, caroling and the whole bit. Sadly - I have a stubborn rule that I must wait until AFTER Thanksgiving. Don't forget about one holiday, just because of another. Especially since Thanksgiving is a great time of year as well!
Today while at Wal-Mart in the toy section (had to get date stuff - hehe) I realized that this season of shopping and craziness can either be good or bad. I enjoy shopping all year 'round, but at Christmas I get to wrap it up in pretty paper and bows and give it away. And people need to remember not to stress out or get upset about things. You always hear the story of the crazy women who get into a cat fight over a toy. Well - there was a lady in the store that was very friendly, asked where I thought something could be found (even though she knew I didn't work there) and then wished me luck with my findings as well. Very nice lady. Why can't that friendliness continue throughout the season??
Please, everyone, be kind. Be courteous.
And most importantly - remember what this season is about. There is absolutely no room for anger, frustration, and being rude to others.
On another note - it's a bit of flurries today. Quite chilly out. Makes me want to wear a warm sweater, scarf and perhaps coat. Then grab the boyfriend, some hot chocolate and wander from shop to shop doing some Christmas shopping for our friends and family. Too bad it doesn't truly snow here in the South. At times I'm glad, but other times I wish it would. It's so pretty and really helps bring the spirit of Christmas into my heart/mind.
Oh - and if anyone knows where I can pick up "The Muppet Christmas Carol" or "Charlie Brown's Christmas," please let me know. I've found the Thanksgiving one of Charlie Brown, but I would like the Christmas ones.

And it turned out...
Absolutely Wonderful!!
I'm sure you are all just at the edge of your seat wondering how the date went. It wasn't just ANY date - it was my birthday date... (Although I'm really not big into birthdays so it didn't matter that much to me.)
The evening started as follows:
My roommate texting me telling me she has just thrown up and needed me to stop and get stuff for her. So off I run to the store. I'm then talking to my mother on the phone when my brother calls. While I'm talking to my brother (which I don't do often enough), my date calls - twice. I'm worried something's wrong but then I see his car parked outside my house. Oh no - cuz I am DEFINITELY not ready to go.
I hurry up the stairs with stuff for my girl - arms full of that and work stuff - open the door and get bombarded by balloons. Yes - the ENTIRE living room and most of the kitchen was covered in balloons.
A 'Happy Birthday' banner and streamers were hung up. And it was all so cute. He even had a little stuffed dog (since he couldn't get me a real one like I've been wanting) and a funny card. I can't believe Cassie helped him blow all those up, but it looked great and was a lot of fun. The balloons are still around!!
So I guess it's okay that Cassie also LIED about being sick, because it's fun to have a house full of balloons. Although very strangely - those balloons just happened to end up in my bathroom the next day. Not just a few - but ALL of the balloons. In the shower even. I could barely even open the door.... Good thing we have two bathrooms to use!!
And yes - the culprit is hiding in those balloons....
Dinner was wonderful. We went to 'The Melting Pot.' The food was delicious. I had fondue for the first time. As well as the first time having duck. Everything was great! He set it up for my birthday so they brought me roses with balloons, took our picture and framed it, gave me a card and chocolate to take home for my own fondue nite.
It was a lot of fun - and yes, he earned some bonus points. Which really I think that's all he was going for...
I've never really done anything big for my birthday before, but that was a really sweet thing for him to do, and a LOT of fun!!
MMMMmmmm... I might have to go break out my fondue and have some more!!

I'm so . . . .
sleepy . . .
I've not been getting much sleep this past week. And it's been fun - well worth it, but now I am feeling it. I am SO tired. I can barely keep my eyes awake lately. And after this AMAZINGLY fun weekend I had, I am even more tired.
Friday - took half a day and went downtown with Ariel for the afternoon. Went home, ran to the store, got ready. Off to dinner, quick stop at a bonfire, and then off to dance the nite away. Didn't dance quite as much as usual, although got there a little later than normal. Then we had a little after-party at our place. Just hanging out and having fun. Finally kicked everyone out at 2 AM because I had to get up at . . .
Saturday - 7:45, at work! Ugh... boring meeting. From the meeting I ran home and off we went to paintballing. Paintballing all morning - WAY FUN - and then ran to get stuff set up for the evening. Store, shower, etc. Peoples over, off to scavenger hunt, dinner, and back to our place. TONS of fun and again kicked people out at about 2 AM.
Sunday - Church, made pie and then entertained a couple of guests. Also fun, but kicked everyone out by 11-ish.
See - not a whole lot of sleep this weekend. Not including the late nites during the week I had....
Oh well... 'Live a little' as my room-mate always says. And I definitely am living a little... hopefully be able to live it up a little more once I quit my 2nd job...
Yes, I'm quitting. They'll have me working until 12 now, and I can't do that... it's way too late and my real job is much more important and I need to stay coherent for that.
And I have a date tonite! A real date. I'm excited - nervous and twitterpated - but excited. YAY!
